Their name clearly defines what kind of material is supposed to be put in either type. These two types differ at certain level from each other and students are taught to recognize and establish their writings accordingly. In an argumentative type of a paper, the writer puts forward a chain of arguments and then supports it up with solid evidences. The writer is expected to completely advocate his point and convince the readers regarding his views. In a way, such types of papers are a joyous read and they keep the reader captivated till the last word. 

Next comes the Analytical type, which contains heavy amount of self-research and analytical material. It examines the analytical qualities that the writer posses. This type of paper is likely to have more insight from the writer than the argumentative one, as the writer puts his own views and research into the paper and try to stick to neutrality rather than just supporting certain facts. 

The writer should have a self-figured pattern about how to approach his analytical traits and go through the paper with clear concepts.Another type commonly used is the Synthesis term paper. As clearly evident from its name, the students are asked to synthesize their class lectures and work that they have already gone through during their term. This type of paper does not offer minor detailed research, instead it speaks of the generic details and so considered much easier unlike the other types. 

Students usually gather information from their class lectures, assignments and group projects rather than conducting self-research.Book review is another type of a term paper that students are supposed to write by the end of their session or as their course assignment. It can be suggested as a sub-category of the synthesis term paper and requires a deeper insight rather than generalities. The students are advised to put in their own perspective rather than opting for sources. It gives the Masking tape paper full view of how the writer is approaching the book. Peer review can also be classified as a term paper. It looks similar to the Book review as it focuses on the personal perspective of the writer instead of gathering information from different sources or supporting facts.

 It is usually termed as a 'scientific study' as well.The list is never ending. Some of the education institutes set their own pattern and format for their students about how to write a term paper. However, mostly, a well established pattern is followed in order to make students used to the research standards. The research industry is grooming fast and new standards are being set for research purposes on regular basis. Modern research is being conducted on the terms officially described by the research authorities. Students inclined towards research industry should keep up with the changing standards and formats in order to stay alive and cruise along their area of interest.
